The Jockey Club - Q&AThe Jockey Club has a central London office, in the same building as the British racing authorities. (151 Shaftesbury Avenue, London WC2H 8AL, Telephone 020 …
The name BELPER is of a village/town in Derbyshire. It’s also the name of an English aristocratic family - Lord Belper.
Have not found the racehorse, Belper.
I have also tried to find it - but cannot - and I don’t remember hearing about him either
I’m too young to remember him lol! Sorry!
Try contacting Weatherbys as they will have a full list of all the race results over the years, and what has happened to each horse. The Jockey Club won’t have any records, until recently they were only dealing with disciplinary matters, and now they don’t even do that. Weatherbys deal with all the admin in racing and have full records of every thoroughbred to have raced in this country.
As I seem to be old enough I can just about remember him running, although at that time without tv broadcasts in betting shops etc life was not as it is now.
He was a 1969 colt by Busted out of Maurine and as far as I recall he did run mainly on left handed tracks.
I vaguely seem to think he had some connection with a tv presenter, but that may have been a different one.
