Because horse racing is legal and they pay taxes to the government, dog fighters don’t pay taxes nor do they intend to hence they are deemed illegal, anyways people should stop fighting dogs and start fighting roosters, they’re faster and funner to see

Have you seen the way they provoke the dogs to fight??? It’s rather different from the way horses race. I don’t like the idea of horses being raced, but they don’t “whip” them the way you say. The horses are put to sleep because they are older or have injuries that cannot heal properly. Horses that aren’t raced…just allowed to roam freely on a ranch can be put down for injuries, too. The dogs used for dogfighting…did you know one of the biggest ways they are provoked is through being beaten with a baseball bat, being starved, being fed raw meat, …need I go on? And, the way they win is to badly injure the other dog or kill it…and if they don’t win…THEY DIE.

dog fighting is illegal. dog racing isnt, horse racing isnt. So they can do whatever they want to the animals. And in most cases, horses are very well taken care of, because they are so expensive. while dogs (greyhounds) are just thrown away, because it costs very little to breed two dogs (they just throw them together). Greyhound breeders are puppy mills and all they do is just pump out dogs. Horses are generally well taken care of, and there arent so many of them, they dont breed them like they do dogs. Especially cuz they have a long gestation period and only have one foal. so there are less numbers of racing horses, and they take pains in breeding champions, and dont throw them away.

do you realize what goes on in dog fighting and cock fights? i think there is a big difference. the others have animals fighting each other and brutally killing each other. that is animal abuse. race horses are well taken care of and they have retirement homes for them and use them as studs for fathering future race champions. they are fed well, have vetinary care and are put to sleep humanely when it is time.thats the difference.

you need to know the differences, first and foremost those horses are treated like gods and when they become too old to compete they are sometimes given to ranches, sold, or euthenized.. unlike dog fighting where they torcher, drown, strangle, beat dogs who arent good enough to kill eachother… if you dont see the difference you are an ignorant moron.

ps- dog fighters take peoples beloved animals off their property and tape their joints so they cant fight back… just so their fight dog can get used to killing… now does that seem like it compares to anything less that inhumane?

Horse racing is legalized Gambling that is why. Dog fighting is not legalized gambling. That is why people go to jail for dog fighting.

Horses are usually slaughtered if they are lame, worn, or have a broken leg. It is very sad. I have seen PETA videos on what people do to horses that are not well, or what people do to a ‘downed’ animal that cannot litterally get up, I have seen videos of horses being denied water, when the water is availiable. They starve and slowly start to die. I don’t agree with Rodeos, nor hunting.

Whoa, … have you seen horses being made to fight to death.??? Horses.like many other animals, are put to sleep by a certified vet when they deem that animal is suffering and cannot be made well. That is a humanitarian act!! By the way, the quirt on a horses shank feels like a moisquito bite would to you.. it’s there to urge the racer on, not to beat him.

Yes, in horse racing they sometimes do use a riding ‘bat’ or crop.. this tool will not leave welts or injure the animal. It is used to encourage the horse to move faster.. Usually horses are not afraid of a riding bat.. if they are, I promise they would not work to encourage a horse to move faster.

Although the horse racing industry is a business and horses are treated as such. Most trainers I knew did take good care of their animals or the horse would not run and they would not be successful.

So what happens to old race horses? Many move into the ‘pleasure’ market to be retrained for riding, some are sent to retirement homes for old race horses, some are used as breeding stock for future racers and sadly some are sent to a USDA inspected slaughter house (the meat is used for zoo meat, the pet food market, and most of the meat is shipped overseas where horse meat is considered ).

Horse racing has little in common with dog fights where two animals are trained to try to kill each other. Like automotive racing.. it is just who is the fastest today. As for the gambling part of dog fighting.. it is an illegal because dog fighting is illegal. Many states set their own rules as to what gambling is legal or illegal. Horse racing gambling is highly supervised and like Las Vegas or buying a lottery.. is carefully
monitored.

If you want to help, donate to a race horse retirement farm in your area.. it costs a lot of money to keep these retired horses safe, fed and happy.

The worn out ones are killed, oh please, they are rehabbed, do you know how many TB rehabs their are out there, do a google search to educate yourself.

The injured ones that can’t be saved are euthanized. Theres a difference.

People think that cats and dogs are above horses for some weird reason. Cats and dogs have rights and horses,pigs,cows,chickens, and many other animals do not. I don’t see the difference. There is no difference to me. I believe all animals should have rights no matter what kind of animal they are.
