I think it happens in Hollywood as it happens over here in U.K. you get a talent agent and audition for parts. Also I advice to start as an extra. That will give an insight how it is to act in front of the camera.
Go to a acting workshops and courses they are full of people who are serious about this and they can advice you and direct you in the right direction. So research Drama schools in London.
