Some viewers complained that the commentator callously referred to them as “obstacles” to be avoided, and that the post-race summary described them euphemistically as “equine fatalities” rather than the plain English “dead horses”.
In previous years before the creation of the emergency channel, such horses would have been swiftly removed after the majority of the field passed, and would have avoided the television cameras. This time there was no hiding from it.
This website http://www.horsedeathwatch.com/ has kept a constant record of equine deaths at British racecourses since 2007.
In your view, has the high profile Grand National has its day? Is it barbaric, and as Animal Aid claim, no different to bullfighting which the UK public despise? Or is it a sporting spectacle and a Great British institution?

Deighton xxx sorry i missed out the ‘not’ before everybody.
Anne, yes, we meet him regularly, he’s quite funny. He complimented me on an outfit a few years ago and then asked me what i thought of his. I’m afraid i was very honest and told him he looked like a “bag of rats”, the tears streamed down his face he laughed so much and i got an enormous slap on the back. He agreed and told me the ‘look’ was one which set him apart from other hopeful commentators!
Hypocrite - hi! Not turned the light on yet today? Yes, that was a very kind way of saying anything about some of those outfits, perhaps the local theatre groups would like them for Pantomimes?
Charterman xxx! p.s. can you lend me the fiver first?

PROBABLY NOT!!! Because their parents aren’t in the news headlines.
Cheers Richard what a generous guy!! £100,000 would probably buy a full page ad in a national daily newspaper apologising for the train service that most people would glance over.
Wait a minute!! Throw a one shot £100,000 at front page news for the next couple of weeks, makes good business sense..dunnit!!!
Whatever happens…guilty or not guilty, the book and film is bound to follow, and Richard was in there first with his generous donation remember. Not that this would influence anything of course.
