Hello. I’m a UK citizen by birth but have always lived overseas. I’m planning to work through an agency in the UK for couple of months a year and expect to make around GBP 10,000 gross. I’m confused about how best to get paid.and taxation. I know that PAYE results in over-taxation. I’ve been told about going self-employed and limited company. I have gotten myself registered as self employed but do NOT have the Unique Tax Ref No at present. However I’d like to know

1. If I go self employed, is that the best way for me given what I’m scheduled to make in the UK in one year (around or just above 10 grand)
2. What is the tax exempt amount of money in the UK ?
3. What sorts of expenses can I claim back ?
4. Any alternative suggestions - should I go Limited Company ?
5. Since my Unique Tax no hasn’t arrived (I have a National Insurance No) can my employee still pay me gross (and let me file taxes in April) or is he/she obliged to deduct tax at source?

Many thanks
